This two-day executive training which is organized for the 3rd time in Athens by Boussias Events with the collaboration of Professor Panos Kanavos addresses the needs of employees in the pharmaceutical industry responsible for market access activities as well as stakeholders evolved in the Pricing & HTA decision making process to better understand the ‘Pricing & Value Assessment’ impact as well as insights and practice of a structured negotiation process based on real scenarios. Following previous years’ success, and according to the needs expressed by most participants, this year training will dive deeper into particulars of HTA processes in view of the new Joint HTA Regulation and also include practical examples of HTA to enable better understanding.
Prof. Panos Kanavos is ideally placed to deliver this training, not only due to his wide international experience in health economic evaluations, but also because he leads the activities of MTRG, which is a research group comprising of 13 researchers and concentrates on interdisciplinary and comparative policy research on medical technologies. The group conducts research on a number of research streams. As part of its activities, MTRG is currently co-ordinating the activities of the IMPACT HTA consortium, an EU H2020 grant, and has previously coordinated the activities of key research grants on Health Technology Assessment (Advance HTA project), on Chronic Disease and a component of Best Practices in Rare Diseases. It has conducted research under the auspices of and participated in the European Medicines Information Network (EMI-net) and the network for the study of rare diseases. It also coordinates the activities of The Patient Academy, an initiative between academia, health care regulatory agencies and patient groups. in the preparation, conduct and/or supervision of over 400 HTAs in recent years.
Mackenzie Mills, Assistant Director, Medical Technology Research Group, LSE Health has worked in the field of health policy for several years, with a focus on market access, health technology assessment, sustainable financing, and drug pricing. Mackenzie’s previous work involves global consulting and research activities, speaking engagements at several conferences across Europe, and a number of publications. He has facilitated a range of executive training courses including the LSE Market Access Academy and the WHO workshop on strategic procurement with a focus on negotiations. Mackenzie holds a BSc in Biochemistry (University of British Columbia, Canada) and an MSc in International Health Policy (LSE, UK).
